The price

£495, paid in full before the project begins.

£495 is the total amount payable for everything described on this page. There is no deposit stage, no staged invoice and no later balance.

Payment is taken by Stripe. Alexander Watson Studio does not see or store your card details.

Domain registration, third-party image licences, paid fonts and ongoing hosting are separate and are described under Hosting and maintenance.

What you supply

  • Final, approved page copy for every page — proofread and ready to publish
  • Accurate practice details: qualifications, memberships, fees, availability, location
  • Your chosen design from the collection and your colour direction
  • Your logo files, if you have them
  • Photographs you own or are licensed to use, or agreement to use scoped licensed imagery
  • Your domain name, or access to buy and connect one
  • One consolidated set of feedback per revision round

All of this is collected through one Website Content Questionnaire after payment. You do not have to prepare it before you buy.

Not included

  • Positioning, niche or practice strategy
  • Copywriting from a blank page, or substantial rewriting of your copy
  • Several competing design concepts
  • A bespoke brand identity or hand-drawn logo
  • Pages beyond the five agreed, or features outside the chosen design system
  • Online booking, payment, membership, course or client-portal systems
  • Photography, illustration or video production
  • Domain registration fees, paid font licences or stock image licences
  • Ongoing hosting, maintenance or content updates after the thirty-day corrections window
  • Email hosting, or migration of an existing mailbox
  • Marketing, advertising, directory management or social media

Revisions

Two consolidated rounds, shared by words and design.

At each revision point you review the whole website and send one complete, prioritised list. I make those changes together so the design stays coherent.

Copy changes and website changes share the same two rounds. Rewriting a paragraph, swapping a photograph and moving a section are all revisions. There is not a separate copy allowance.

A revision is not a new brief, a new design direction or an extra page. Work caused by information supplied late, a change of mind after written approval, or anything outside the agreed scope is quoted before it begins.

Feedback sent as a stream of separate messages will be held and treated as one round when it is complete.

Keeping it moving

What each of us is responsible for.

A five-page website is quick to build and slow to finish when material arrives in pieces. These are the response expectations the price assumes.

What I do

  • Acknowledge your payment within two working days
  • Confirm in writing when your questionnaire and materials are complete, and give a start date
  • Reply to project messages within two working days
  • Tell you before doing anything that would cost more, and quote it first

What you do

  • Complete the Website Content Questionnaire and send your materials
  • Reply to questions and approval requests within five working days
  • Send each revision round as one complete list
  • Check factual accuracy — fees, qualifications, memberships, contact details — before approval

If a project goes quiet

  • After 30 days without a reply I will send a written reminder
  • After 60 days the project is treated as dormant and my time is reallocated
  • A dormant project can be restarted, subject to availability, and may need rescheduling
  • Dormancy does not, by itself, create a refund — see the cancellation and refund information

Additional work

Nothing extra happens without a written quote.

If you want a sixth page, a third revision round, a feature outside the design system, or substantial copy help, I will describe the work and quote a fixed price in writing.

You confirm in writing before I start. Additional work is invoiced separately from the £495 and is not added to it silently.

I do not allow a £495 project to drift into a larger one. If the work reveals that you need a different route, I will pause and say so.

After launch

Hosting and maintenance are separate, and optional.

The £495 covers building and launching the website. It does not include hosting it, maintaining it or changing it afterwards, beyond thirty days of minor corrections.

Optional Website Care

£29 per month
or £290 per year

Secure hosting, maintenance, backups, monitoring and small content amendments. Larger work is quoted separately. There is no minimum term.

You are equally free to host the finished website yourself, or with another suitable host. I will hand over what is needed to do that.

Ownership and licensing

What is yours, and what is licensed to you.

Set out plainly, because “do I own my website?” is a fair question that is too often left unanswered.

Yours outright

Your words, your practice information, your logo and your photographs remain yours. They were yours before the project and they stay yours.

On receipt of full payment, the finished, customised website files for your practice are yours to keep, host and move.

Licensed to you

The underlying design system, layout and code remain the intellectual property of Alexander Watson Studio, and are licensed to you for use on one website for your practice, for as long as you use it.

That licence does not allow reselling, redistributing or reusing the design system for a second website or for another practice.

Third-party materials

Fonts, stock photographs, plugins and hosting remain governed by their own licences and terms. Where a licence is needed in your name, I will tell you before it is used.

Unless you ask me not to, I may show the finished website in my portfolio and describe the work. Tell me if you would rather I did not.

Cancellation and refunds

Where you stand if you change your mind.

The position depends on whether you are buying as a consumer or for the purposes of your business, and on how much work has already been done. Both are covered, in full, in the cancellation and refund information.

In short: tell me as early as possible. Before I have started, a cancellation is straightforward. Once the build is under way, what has already been done is chargeable.

Nothing on this website is intended to remove or reduce any statutory right you may have.

The whole process

From payment to launch.

A straightforward Straightforward Website usually takes two to four weeks from the day the project officially begins, provided replies arrive within the agreed times. It is not a same-week service.

    Payment is taken in full by Stripe. Stripe emails your receipt. You are returned to a confirmation page on this website.

    I acknowledge it

    Within two working days I email you personally, with the questionnaire link and a list of what to gather.

  3. 03

    You complete the questionnaire

    Your chosen design, your final copy, your practice details, your images and your logo, in one place.

  4. 04

    I check it and confirm the start

    The project officially begins when your completed questionnaire and required materials have been received and checked, and I have confirmed the start date in writing. Payment alone does not start the build.

  5. 05

    I build the first version

    Your chosen design, made yours: words placed, colours applied, images prepared, pages assembled.

  6. 06

    Revision round one

    You review the whole website and send one complete, prioritised list. I make those changes together.

  7. 07

    Revision round two

    The final consolidated round: refinements, corrections and last details.

  8. 08

    Pre-launch checks

    Responsiveness, accessibility, performance, links, forms, page titles and descriptions.

  9. 09

    Written approval and launch

    You approve in writing. The website is connected to your domain and made live.

  10. 10

    Thirty days of corrections

    Minor corrections to what was delivered are free for thirty days after launch. New work is quoted.
